Am 24. Februar 2025 jährt sich der Überfall Russlands auf die Ukraine zum dritten Mal. Aus diesem Anlass präsentiert die Stiftung St. Matthäus in Kooperation mit dem Ukrainischen Institut – Український інститут und dem Polnischen Institut Berlin die Ausstellung »24-2=2022« der ukrainischen Künstlerin Alevtina Kakhidze und der polnischen Künstlerin Renata Rara Kaminska in der St. Matthäus-Kirche.

Der Krieg, der bereits im Februar 2014 mit der Besetzung der Krim-Halbinsel begann, hat Europa und die Welt verändert – nicht nur die Politik, sondern auch die Seelen der Menschen. Anlässlich des Jahrestages des Angriffskrieges haben sich die polnische Künstlerin Renata Rara Kaminska und die ukrainische Künstlerin Alevtina Kakhidze zusammengetan, um ein künstlerisches Zeichen zu setzen. Für die St. Matthäus-Kirche entsteht eine raumspezifische Installation rund um das Thema »Grenzen« – ein Dialog der Künstlerinnen miteinander, mit der Geschichte ihrer Heimatländer und mit dem Kirchenraum, der sich als Resonanzraum der Hoffnung verstehen lässt.

24 February 2025 marks the three-year anniversary of Russia’s invasion of Ukraine. The war, which began in February 2014 with the occupation of the Crimea, has changed Europe and the world – not only in terms of politics, but also in people’s souls. To mark the anniversary of the war of aggression, Polish artist Renata Rara Kaminska and Ukrainian artist Alevtina Kakhidze have joined forces to make an artistic statement.
A space-specific installation on the theme of »borders« is being created for the St. Matthäus-Kirche – a dialogue between the artists, with the history of their home countries and with the church space, which can be understood as a resonating space of hope.
